I guess I'm remiss for not posting earlier. I had joined many, especially James Mattis, in asking Sal to bring back the big Chef's kitchen knife. This in MBS-26 steel and unserrated.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks (thanks James

!!!) and it is fantastic. I admit I had to adjust to the super light weight from having used a full thick tang type for years. This one floats in the hand and is superb in making quick delicate changes in the direction of the cut. I never should have missed this one years ago.

My kitchen battery now consists of the Chef's blade (K02), a Santuko(K08), two different sized serrated utility (K04 & K05), and a Moran... ALL Spyderco. They plain can't be beat (and don't sell that Moran short as a kitchen tool either

)!!!

Great stuff!!!!!

Bald1 guy,

The Spyder in the kitchen is fine,
but the Moran seemed a bit thick
for kitchen use, I will follow your lead
concerning the other items, as many of us
did with the Moran surge...

Hey Bob, is the Chef a lot slimmer than the Santuko ? I have the Santuko but can't find a pic on any site that shows both together so as to get a feeling of general size etc. Thanks fellow shiny one.

There's a bit of a perspective problem in this picture, from this amateur trying to get the least bad camera angle with the room lighting, but the whole line is there together.

Here's a direct scan of the new/renewed Spyderco kitchen knives - blades (flatbed scanner size limitation): www.chaicutlery.com/spyderco/spy-kitchenknives-0899-blades.jpg . And handles: www.chaicutlery.com/spyderco/spy-kitchen-new-0899.jpg

And a direct scan of the Santoku and the other kitchen knives that have been in the catalog. www.chaicutlery.com/spyderco/spy-kitchen-1999series.jpg

The plain or serrated Utility Knives in the two pictures provide a common size reference to the Chef's Knife and the Santoku.

Yes, thanks againJames. By the way, which brand/model scanner do you use ? Ours has gone to electronic heaven and we're considering a replacement. Do you feel content with yours or wish you had a different one ? There are so many choices, y'know? TIA

Hey, thanks. Are you having trouble accessing the General forum ? I have not been able to get in there for about a half hour or so, can still get in the rest.

Brian,

Check the explanation in the tech forum.... BFC is under attack again by some moron !
