the title explains the bulk of my question, but what i was curious about was the models which have this feature. i've never been a huge fan of the opening holes but along with the hoods they look more manageable. what models, aside from the salsa and the atr have this feature?
thanks, Neal

Rescue never had a cobra hood, but the Assist does. Personally I think the Spyderhole is the best, most reliable opener in the world and the cobra hood is just a silly lookiing gimmick, but if you prefer "belt and suspenders", I guess thea cobra hood makes sense, kinda.

Agreed. I think it is pretty unnecessary.

I really like the ATR and Salsa but it is in spite of the cobra hood, not because of it.

thanks for the info on models. as with anything, including openers, YMMV.

Doesnt the Valloton have one?

No, just two thumb studs that serve as stop pins.

The spyderhole kinda makes the hoods redundant wouldn't you say ? :p
But then again , that's my personal opinion. Kinda like wearing suspenders and a belt :p
Anyway , the assist has them :)

I think it would be helpful if wearing heavy leather work gloves, or maybe in heavily insulated gloves, but for day-to-day use I agree that the hoods seem superfluous.
