does anyone know when the spyderench is supposed to be released? i remember a while back it was supposed to be released around the end of september, but the spyderco factory outlet didnt have it, and they said there was a problem with production.

any news on when we can expect to be able to order one? i really like the design, most innovative multi tool IMHO.

Ryk - We put together the first 220 pieces, which went to our collector club and some press. This was to make sure all of the production parts fit. This also permits the layout of the assembly manual.

Next week, we set up a line to determine final assembly. Then we train the assemblers and should be shipping regulary by the end of the month.

Last summer's development schedule put delivery at 15 SEPT 99. Actually we've come very close (for a change).

thanks a lot for the info, i greatly appreciate it.
I fell in love with this multi-tool ever since i first seen a prototype of it at the 98 blade show.
i really like how you incorporated a hex-bit drive in the multitool instead of doing they typical bit of a few mediocre screwdriver blades, and then later on making a hex-bit adapter that attaches to one of the screwdriver blades.
i also like the little adjustable wrench, should be a lot better for turning nuts&bolts without stripping them like most multi-tools do.

also, at last years new york knife show, ironstone/spdyerco factory outlet was there, any chance they will be there this year with the spyderench?

again, thanks for the update, its greatly appreciated. i really want one of these

Ryk - If there are any SpydeRenches, there will only be a few and they will probably sell very quickly on the first day (Friday).

Rugger - Should have a few SpyderCards as well, but again, I don't know how long they'll last.

I got to check out a SpydeRench yesterday at my local dealer before he shipped it out to a collector. I was very impressed. Although it is rather ungainly in appearance, it was very well designed and compact. I think Spyderco is to be commended for really bringing a fresh approach to multi-tools instead of just making another Leatherman knockoff.
