SpyderHawk Salt discontinued, ALTERNATIVES?

Hello all,

Even though I am arround boats in summer (spearfishing and such) I am in search of a decent sized serrated hawkbill blade to carry when I go rock or ice climbing. Most of the folders marketed for climbing are serrated, but none is hawkbill shaped. I think this is the blade shape which could excell at cutting cordage.

I searched and came across the SpyderHawk salt only to find out that it is discontinued. I tried Ebay with no luck. I know of a local store in a nearby city (I saw it a couple days ago while working) which has one in stock but I know I will be paying twice as much as if I bought it in the US (considering even the extra shipping costs). You may have noticed I live in Spain.

So, my question is, considering the SpyderHawk is not available, which other choices I have in the Spyderco line besides the Tasman Salt?

H-1 is not mandatory, but a bigger blade is desired. Also, I feel that having the SpyderHawk and Tasman with the same MSRP is somewhat of a joke, since the Tasman is a scaled version (about 2/3) of the SpyderHawk with no difference in the construction (that I know off!). But still goes for the same amount.

This might not be the place to ask, but if anyone has duplicates of this knife or wants to get rid of it, send me a PM!

Thanks in advance,

Mikel

I just called, they are asking 167€ for it!!:eek::eek: Even if I payed full MSRP, I will still be waaaaaaaaays ahead buying overseas.

I am probably one of the biggest fans on here of the serrated salts but that said, I don't really care for serrated edges for cutting rope. It will get the job done, even after it gets dull, but I much prefer the cleaner cuts of a good sharp plain edge. I would recommend something in one of the high wear resistance steels. Say a manix LW in s110v with a nice toothy 400 grit edge. That will be a rope cutting machine!
