Spyderhawk?

If all you are going to do is carry it around, either will work just fine. They take up the same amount of pocket space. What you use it for will determine which is better for your needs. Since I use mine primarily for landscaping/gardening type chores, I find the serrated version works better for me. YMMV.

I like Hawkbills period!!! However I will just come right out and say that Spyderedged Hawkbills are the "beast of blades"!! I got hooked on Hawkbills back in the fall of 2004 by taking my SE, VG-10 Spyderhawk by mistake one afternoon. I thought I had grabbed my SE Endura but I got my SE Spyderhawk by mistake. BEST DARN MISTAKE I EVER MADE!!

I immediately discovered how great the Serrated Spyderhawk was for going through trumpet vines, reeds, cattails and various other swamp/wetland weeds. From that point on the Spyderhawk had made it's permanent impression on me.

I just got my new H-1 Spyderhawk thanks to a great Spyder-Brother and I've yet to try it out on anything demanding but I have total confidence that it's going to even be better in many respects. The corrosion resistance will make it more ideal for harsh conditions.

I again thank brother Clovisc for the biggest blade idea of 2009!! For all the rest of you folks sitting on the fence>>> Now's The Time: For a New Hawkbill

I will probably go with the full serrated. I have a plainedge in the Super.

Good choice Razor ;) Now don't get me wrong because plain edged Hawkbills do indeed have their place>> I own many of Spyderco's PE Hawkbills.

But serrated edges and Hawkbill blades just seem to be much more agressive cutters for rough materials. The day I discovered the awesome cutting ability of Hawkbills for the very first time I was cutting through vines like warm butter. I know that I would not have destroyed them nearly as easy with a plain edge.

And the Spyderhawk, especially with an H-1 blade may be the most perfect all purpose Hawkbill blade Spyderco has ever come up with. There isn't hardly a day that goes by that I don't use my SE Harpy on something.

I love Spyderco's Spyderedges on just about any knife. But they really perform admirably on a Hawkbill blade.

SE H1 holds a better edge than PE, but it comes down to what you'll find more useful. I always have a PE spyderco like a Millie or para with me, so I go with serrated hawkbills corky second EDC knife to cover the most bases possible. The two compliment eachother well.

The way I see it is that if you're going to be getting a hawk bill, you're going to have to sharpen it with rod-like sharpeners anyway, so might as well go with an SE. Unless you get that new DMT Wave sharpener, I guess, which you can use to sharpen PE recurves.
