I am considering the purchase of a SpyderPac to store various knives. I have a decent size collection and need room to grow, so I will require multiple packs to handle everything. Initially I was considering the 32 unit model, but got to thinking the 18 unit version might be easier to handle and store. So, does anyone have any input one way or the other? If you were looking to store about sixty knives which way would you go?

Just got the 32 unit model (despite a noob's collection of 15 knives or so -- gotta plan for future growth!). It is not awkward to carry around and the "D" rings make it something of a display case to boot. Well worth the money (and the wally space to hang it when not transporting my beauties around).

I have several and I think that they are great for the price. I know some have said that they don't care much for the clear plastic pockets but I like being able to see which knife is in each pocket. I have a drawer dedicated to them and it holds five large and one small easily. They lay flat until I need them and as previously stated, the d-rings are great for hanging when I want. Try one, I think you'll like it.

If you've got a sewing machine, these packs are extremely simple to make on your own. I'm in need of one myself, and will be making it in the next few days if time allows. I'll try to post pictures of the process.

That said, if you don't have the time, the spyderpac is a great value.

What's the largest folder you can fit in those pockets? Do the knives scratch each other when the pack is folded? I am also considering ordering one.

I currently have the 18 pocket SpyderPac, however the 32 pocket is constructed in the same manner. I find it to be an excellent storage system that fits very well in the top drawer of my dresser along with my Sharpmaker and other related items. The overall construction is excellent; heavy duty without being bulky and once closed with the velcro locked, there's no way for the knives to fall out. I also like the fact that multiple Pacs can be stacked together nicely and for the price, that's a reasonable and viable option.

The largest knives in my collection right now are the Manix 2 BD30P, Gayle Bradley and a Para 2. I store the knives by sliding the clips over the edge of the pockets. When you fold the Pac for storage, each segment covers the knives entirely and protects them very well. The only "damage" that I have found is that the plastic/vinyl material used for the sleeves does scratch a bit after removing and replacing the knives a few times, but it is fairly minimal and goes unnoticed when the knives are in the pockets.

I also tuck three small silica gel packets inside each fold just for good measure.

Im highly impressed with the 32. I have an xm24 and a strider smf and both fit fine. No damage at all. You have to be a little careful unrolling b/c if not clipped in, the knife slides out the top but not a big deal in my opinion. High quality product and as said above, i like being able to view all the knives at the same time.

Hey all thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and placed an order for the larger 32 unit size kind of excited to get the entire herd in one place.
