I just received a used Calypso Jr. in VG-10 I bought off Ebay for about 30 bucks. Lucked out, it might as well be brand new. Only complaint I have is that there is a little vertical blade play in the knife. I thought I had read that some have sent there knives back to Spyderco for sharpening and repairs but don't recall for sure. Just wondered if that service really exists and if you need to be the original owner of the knife? Will there be an issue if it is a discontinued model? Any input appreciated.

The service exists. How would they ever know if you were the original owner?

Everyone that has sent there knife in has been more than satisfied from what I've heard. I plan on sending my Military in for inspection and sharpening. It's got a small chip (you have to hold it up to the light) in the edge from hitting a staple when I was cutting some cardboard. I'm just waiting for an endura to substitute.

You should talk to them before you send it in, because the turn around time is random and from what I've heard it can take a week to 5 weeks...
