hey guys, I'm looking at the spyderco C50 centofante, (not the vesuvius) anyone have one? What do you think?

Thanks in advance,

Nathan

PS: I put this in the spydie forum too

I had an older model in ats-34 and it was a fine knife.

For me though I like my blades a little thicker (amybe the new ones are thicker)

Fine knife. I had a SE one, but traded it off because I wanted a PE. Now I have 2 PE, with the gold emblem. :) Nice knives. If you can find one, get it. They are getting harder to find.

Blades

Nice gents' knife. The design is unique but the blade is a bit thin for any heavy-duty work. The double locking mechanism is another nice touch.

I had one when they first came out, as my luck would have it, by a freak of manufacturing, it broke at the Spydie Hole.

I threw in a drawer for 4 or 5 years, found this forum a year or so ago, and after talking to so many people here , I was convinced to write Spyderco. I shipped it to them, and they contacted me immediately to inform me that it was unrepairable , and they didn't make them anymore.:(

They did, however offer credit for the original MSRP, on their internet catalog. I wound up getting two Spydies from them, a S.S. Dragonfly, and an FRN Mini Dyad.

The best part was, this all happened during a passaround of the same knife, that Dave H. was sponsering, and I wound up buying it from him after the passaround.

Not only did I get to replace a favorite, previously unavailable knife, but I got one with history. :D

I haven't handled the C50, but the C25 was my EDC for about 9 months -- lost its spot to a DDR small Apogee. The Centofante design is still one of my favorite Spyderco knives. To be perfectly honest, I would actually prefer it without the secondary lock -- this is one the most secure liner locks you will ever see in a production knife.

thanks guys. I won one on ebay when I bid on an auction I was sure I wouldn't win. Just wanted to know what I was getting into.
