Nakano2,

Yeah, I noticed them about a month ago at a REI store: Enduras, and Rescues.

I like the white boxes still.

Nothing wrong with that, Sal's got to sell a lot of those to underwrite the cool stuff. The masses aren't going to know what's inside the box.

Hi Nakano 2,

Yep. Spyderco does offer a few models in either clam packages or the white Spyder box. A couple years ago we had many requests to do this from dealers that prefer to display their knives 'out in the open'- outside of a display case. Most put a magnetic, anti theft strip on the package to keep the knives from sprouting legs and walking away.

Overall the little white box is still the packaging of choice.

im feeling a little dumb here,

whats a clam pack?

ive seen the "card with a blister" packs here and there, is that it?

Beak, just about the same. Your blisters are typically with a cardboard backing and the clams (clamshells) are with clear plastic front and back. If they are sealed around edges completely you' ll need your Spyderco to cut it open!

Joyce: I didn' t handle the ones I saw. Are those clams hinged at any point for accessability? Thanks.

Hi Nakano 2,
Our clam packs are hinged at the bottom. The plastic is heat sealed around the edges and LOL! yeah you do need a knife (or really really, sharp teeth) to get them open.
