Does it has a detent ball for holding the blade closed? Does it only uses friction?

It does have a ball detent - the stainless steel handled version, that is. Exceptionally good knife, by the way, one of my all time favorite Spydercos.

Sold! I'll get one to replace my TWITCH I as a keychain knife. I plan to customize it by drilling and reaming lightening hole. Now, let's see, where to get one....

yeah, the cricket is awesome. my only wish is that they made one with a mouse style regular spear point or similar blade for a bit more utility. mine is clipped to my waist band all day long.!!
