Greetings, and I hope you don't mind me popping in to your place here to ask a few questions

.

A nice gentleman has offered me a trade for my NIB small CR Sebenza. He's got a NIB Spyderco Jess Horn with the red jigged bone handles, ATS34 blade with notch, etc. from the early '90's. I remember the knife pretty well, but I was wondering a few things:

1. Is this a good trade value-wise here and now? I remember vaguely what the Spydie/Horns were going for back in the day, but I don't know if they've appreciated and if so, to what extent.

2. Will this knife be a good collector's piece in years to come appreciation-wise?

3. Could someone out there please, if you can, post a pic of the model in question. It's been a long time since I've even seen it and I would greatly appreciate a refresher pic.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Professor.

A few dealers still have them. They seem to be priced in the $250-$300 range for un-numbered ones. The mall stores that have 'em, have them priced, it seems, from $350 to full retail.
They are relatively scarce compared to a Seb but the appreciation might not be that great for awhile (if ever) since the initial price was so high and they aren't all that rare if your willing to look around.

Here is a pic of mine:

I gave $250 for mine. I got outbid on a plainedged one on Ebay last week. I think it brought about $215 or so.

Professor,

Of all the spydies I've handled or owned, I feel that the C27 Jess Horn is the most finely finished. It screams CLASS.

It's the closest thing to owning a custom Jess Horn without actually owning a custom Jess Horn!

My advice is that if you find a perfect example for anywhere under $300, GRAB IT!
