Some folks are an 'either or' and some are 'both and' kind of people. I find Im an 'either or' when it comes to modern knives. No worries if you are a 'both and' kind of person.

I think Im a Spyderco fan.

Ok, I know I am. Ive had other brands and knives under the $500 mark and now only have Spyderco knives along with my traditional knives. I find it funny how I once hated the "hole" and now, I enjoy the aesthetics of the Spydie hole, not just the function.

Today I was looking through some pics of other knives and while they are wonderful knives the thumb stud just looked like a wart sitting there on the blade. I didnt enjoy the break in the lines of the knife due to this oddity just sitting there. It really reminded me of wart. Who wants to put a thumb to a wart all day.

If tried the thumb stud. I even had one brand that kept ruining jeans and nearly sliced my hand more than once by the stud getting caught on my jeans.

I think I'll stick with the Spydie hole instead of touching a wart all day. :D

I appreciate the tongue and cheek aspect of this post. Never once thought of a thumb stud as a wart... but I'm afraid I will now. Thanks for that! ;)

I definitely prefer the Spyder-hole over other opening methods. However, I don't harbor any hate for a thumb stud. Maybe it's because that's what I knew of first. Sometimes it works great. In my experience, my CRK Umnumzaan's thumb stud is just great. It also serves as the stop pin so I enjoy the idea of the dual purpose. The rubber O-rings also add a nice tactile feel and an aesthetic flare that I think works really well. But I feel you brother, I definitely enjoy the feel of my thumb pad sinking into the Spyder-hole and really getting a solid and confident purchase. I have had other knives, of manufactures I won't call out, that protrude just a bit too much or feel a bit more harsh than it should or my thumb has slipped off of. Never had those problems with holes.

The OP was all in fun, no hate for other knife brands. :) The Mnandi doesnt have a stud. :D:D

I guess I'm a "whatever" kind of guy. I'm perfectly OK with the tumor on my TiLock and the butt crack on my Praetorian.
