I just got 2 new knives today.. Being a college student, I've never had many good kitchen knives before, so I figured this was the best way to go..

I went with the Santuko and the Pro-Culinaire K05, and I just got them via USPS..

Needless to say I couldn't resist pulling them out right here in the office

The Santuko is really frickin sharp! I can tell I'm going to really enjoy this knife. I haven't messed with the little one yet, since I don't like shaving with serrations, but it looks equally sharp. I might have to COOK tonight

Unfortunately, they didn't come with the keen little spyderco boxes like other knives, so I have no idea if they are covered by the same warranty/sharpening services that Spyderco offers on all their other knives. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Also, I heard rumors that Spyderco may be adding more kitchen knives to their line. Is this true? If so, sign me up!

I've had a K04 for about a year now and truly love it.
Making salads is much more fun, and tomatoes are not that bad when they are sliced thin. Same applies to onions.
The '04 and 05 are great knives.
The only problem is keeping the daughters from putting it in the dishwasher.

You're going to have to excuse my stupidity but what's so bad with the dishwasher?

Dishwashers and knives are interesting... They like only one kind of knife construction and material. Injection molded plastic and 420 stainless steel. Other handles may degrade or absorb the moisture. And if you dont take out that MBS-26 blade and dry it it may rust, unlike that 420 stuff.

Also the detergent tends to be abrasive, if you wash you knives in the dishwasher frequently, you may find yourself sharpening them more frequently.

Don't forget to pay your taxes...they eventually become my knives:)

Another problem with dishwashers is that the utensils tend to bang into each other...over and over...clank, clank, clank spoon against edge of knife.
