anybody get a little vert blade play with their spydies...i have 3 with a little...seems to be a little on the normal side...tried the search function...its not working for me....thx/paul

Well, it depends on the lock. If it's front locks you're talking about, a slight amount of vertical play is considered "within tolerances". I have a large number of Spyderco front locks, some have a bit of vertical play, some do not. Even within a given model, some will have it, some will not. In my experience, screw construction models seem the most prone to it. As long as it is not excessive, it does not effect the safety of the knife.

Front locks and lock backs are the most difficult knives to build so that they are functionally perfect and still exhibit perfect fit and finish in both the open and closed positions. Have a hunch that's why so few custom makers use them.

say Deacon..............its a new adventura.......and i dont know the difference btwn a front lock and a lockback......its just your typical lockback spydie like the calypso and native

Hi Paul,

As mentioned, if you are having a problem with one of our products, the best and probably the fastest solution would be to contact Spyderco Warrantee & Repair. It's their responsibility to service that need and they are very good at it.

I really don't get near warrantee & repair questions unless there is a refinement need or a particular problem.

We appreciate your support and sorry for the problem. I'm confindent the repair team at Spyderco can make you happy.
