does anybody have a spydie with a little vertical blade play???.....search function not working for me...thanks for the help yall...yall are great!!...merry christmas!!!.........................is it something inherent in the design........i have it in my native, caly zdp and my new adventura

A slight bit of vertical blade play on a lockback knife isn't uncommon. It's about 50/50 on my Spydercos that there's solid lock up or a hint of blade play. The blade play in no way affects the safety of the knife. It's more an annoyance than anything else. Simply put, either you'll have to cherry pick from a bunch to find one with 100% solid lockup (which btw might not remain after lots of usage), or just accept the blade play, or avoid lockbacks altogether.

Yep, a little bit of play vertically is common and to be expected in lockbacks. I've never had one fail though, so don't worry about it. It's not so much inherent in the design as it is in that price range given manufacturing tolerances. I'm sure more expensive (>$100) lockbacks are completely free of any blade play.

Actually, I found some vertical blade play on my old Chinook, but is the only lockback spydie I own with that kind of problem. My Enduras (two) and Native are perfect!
