I recently was hospitalized and in the course of my stay lost almost all of my strength and coordination through muscle atrophy. A temporary situation

Anyway, upon return home I pulled out several brands of knives to refamiliarize myself to handling them. The ONLY brand I can still manipulate successfully is Spyderco! Thanks to the pocket clip and thumb opening hole!!
Thanks Sal.
PS I use the "other" brands to challenge me to bring back small muscle strength, memory and coordination. And I do wear steel toed shoes while doing so! LOL

A day without Spydies is like a day without ... WELL, Spydies!!!

It's a relief to see you on the road to recovery.

Glad to hear it about the Spydercos. The Military practially opens itself with that oversized hole. Good to have you back, John.

I think I speak for everyone here on the forums, when I say that we are absolutely delighted to have you back! Good luck on the road to recovery!

Welcome back John

Crashed my bike and busted my right hand on February. Used the large thumbhole on my millie to rehab the injured hand.

Excellent handling!!

Hi John, nice seeing you posting again

.

I agree, the Spydies are ergonomicaly almost perfect (with some exceptions).

Like said before, the Mil is almost self jumping. Matter fact, one does not even have to use the hole in order to deploy it. A simple flick of the wrist is enough.

However if you really want to practice, then you could try the Chinook

Welcome back John! Great to "see" you.

I remember at the NYC blade show Bram told me that the Gunting trainer was, at that time anyway, "officially" a "rehabilitation device."

My BIGGEST challenge - closing the Moran FB01 and FB02.

Yeh, that would be something, John, especially using one hand opening!

And how exactly would one accomplish that job?

Should be interesting to see done.

Glad to see your back, and haven't lost your humor.

What's sharper? Your Mind, or my Spydie?

Interesting: Chinook is problem to some one.
To me Chinook is easy to open, Native is the easiest and J D Smith is not so.
From "others" Benchmade CQC7 is wery easy to me also.
Maybe becase I have small hands and short/thin fingers.......

After shattering a joint in my thumb, Spyders definitely helped speed my rehab along. I was able to carry Spyders far earlier than thumbstud openers.

Glad you're getting better, John!
