Hey guys,
My dumb ass tossed my Spydiechef in the laundry machine/dryer last night. The wash was on cold but dryer was on warm. Knife functionally seems just fine but the blade is super dull now as it was opened and tumbled for a couple hours. I’m a good sharpener just wondering if the blade is toast now with the heat?

You made my laugh of the day. This is precious !
If all clothes are not shredded (aren't they ? Good closing action on the SpidieChef, then), the knife will survive. From the top of my head, maximal temperatures in laundry driers are 60 °C. It shouldn't disturb the frame and even less, the steel. But, don't do it again !

Yeah, unless your clothes melted and/or burst into flames, it didn't get nearly hot enough to affect the heat treat.

Comparison: people do run their kitchen knives through the dishwasher. Dishwashers should actually get hotter than clothes washers/dryers, since they have independent heating elements. If that doesn't destroy the heat treat, then running it through the laundry won't either.

No, you're not supposed to run knives through the dishwasher, but that's because the abrasives in the cleaning powder will dull the edge, not because of the heat.

.....on another note, washing machine drums do make great fire pits...:p:cool:
