Hi,

already asked this on the spyderco.com forum, somehow noone seems to have an idea...

I really like the finish on the Spydiechef handle, does anyone know how to achieve that? Kinda looks like an acid etch over a stone wash to me but might be mistaken...

Thanks!

I want to say it's like stonewash because the texture is more similar to that. It's got a grittiness and grippiness to it, but it's smooth.

Stonewashed titanium is my guess.

Yeah, if you look closely there's clearly some kind of stone wash underneath... for me that's no bead blasted finish, it's too irregular and the superficial finish is much too dark. The way it picks up snail trails made me think of an acid treatment, ferric chloride maybe?

It's by far my favourite scale finish for titanium so far, feels great in hand, super grippy, almost rubberized.
