Spydiechef sharpening, coarse or fine edge?

It's been a while since I sharpened my Spydiechef, but I think I finished it with fine or extra fine DMT stone. The edge looses its bite rather quickly, but I can get it back with a leather strop.

Would it be better to give it a coarser finish, or will LC200N dull just as quickly?

LC200N is a pretty fine grained, so probably lends itself to a more polished edge, which should give it a bit more stability and will last longer generally, although it will depend on what you are using it to cut.

It doesn't have much in the way of carbides though, so the edge retention won't be super regardless of the quality of the edge. I find it to be decent for what it is.

I keep mine with a mirror edge... Seems to cut better than the factory edge at a lower grit (250 or so from Spyderco).
Steel like K390, and Maxamet like toothy edge 250-400.
You might try a dual grit with the LC200N 250 on one side 1200 on the other.
I have used dual grit edges and they bite into material very good.
