I've been thinking of buying/trading for another multitool for non-work EDC (my SOG TiNi Powerlock has been getting pretty cumbersome at times) and I've been thinking about getting a SpydieRench with the fully serrated SpyderEdge blade. Any of you that carry one for EDC, what are your opinions on this tool?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Well, I carry the serrated Spyderench every day at work. I appreciate the quick opening blade as opposed to my Leatherman Tool. The adjustable wrench has found lots of use, and with the detachable screwdriver to hold the screw-side, it has really been handy. The pliers are good. I have only needed to pull-out my Super Leatherman on 1 occasion, and that was for the wire-cutter feature. Otherwise, I have been well-served by the 'Rench.

The Spyderench is all kinds of cool, but I didn't find mine to be very practical. I tend to use my multi-tools mostly for quick fixes. The Spyderench requires too much disassembly/reassembly to perform most common tasks casually. If you don't mind getting it ready it does a great job.

I love mine for its "gadgety" factor, but admit it's not as instinctive to use as a LM or similar. Its coolness is only matched by flicking out the pliers on a Gerber.
It has become my Spydie repair tool, I've replaced the four bits with those required to strip Spydies (an addiction). The new bits are TN coated and the gold colour really looks good inside the Spyderench.
Only niggle is the locking method, sometimes I have to rotate the file/locking pin to get it to protrude enough and keep the thing shut.
But think Spyderco, think innovation, and thats what this thing is, different from the crowd. Sometimes thats enough, especially when I whip it out in a room of LM clones.

The distinctive and different look, along with the variety of tools incorporated in the Rench, is what has drawn my interest in this Spydie. I just received a Leatherman ST200 last night as a gift(early Bday present) and I'm pretty happy and satisfied with it, but the SpydieRench has features that I haven't seen in a multitool before and that makes me want it to serve as an additional EDC tool. (For the extra features that the LM and SOG don't have.;))

And by one-hand opening a SOG PowerLock balisong style. :D

I recently got my hands on a SpydeRench after eyeing one for quite some time. After a week of carrying it, it has replaced my Leatherman. I love the quick acess to the blade; and it rides quite comfortably in my pocket. Just watch yours closely if you get it. I have heard of them growing legs and running away if left lying around the office...:D
