Spydies at WORK!!!!

This is the Spyderco forum. Pretty much no one uses their knives here.
I'll take some of mine though. If a knife i buy goes 1 month without being used it gets sold :P

A kinder, gentler view might be that most here consider "cutting stuff" a routine activity and thus don't feel the need to document every time they use their knives.

These last ones are kind of a cheat, since the knife is a Manix 2 Pilot, and was only loaned to me by Sal to test drive and photograph.

I kindly beg to differ with the brother who says "no one here uses their Spyders" That may be true with some hard core collectors but I can assure you that I use many of the Spyders I own and several friends of mine that I personally know use their Spyderco blades too.

I admit that there are several "sacred cow" collector Spyders that I don't use in my collection but I know for a fact that a large percentage of the people that hang out here on BF and on the Spyderco.com forum do indeed use their knives and use them a lot.

As soon as I get my hands on a Temperance II you better believe I plan on using it. Same goes with the Warrior, Rock Salt, Chockwe and about a half a dozen other Spyders on my "gotta have" list.

That's what's really cool about Spyderco's great blades>> they are truly engineered to be used and to be used a lot.

managed to roll the edge of my Centofante 4 in a few spots at work today.... But no, I don't use mine either. Unfortunately no pics, my laptop is broken, just using this one for a bit...

I don't have time to stop and take pictures of mine while I'm working, but if you look at this S90V Military you might get an idea of how much mine get used. ;)

Sorry. No pics, but i thought this might be an appropriate opportunity to sing spyderco's praises. As far as Spydies go, I have a Millie, a Paramilitary, Endura 4, and a Stretch. Sometimes subjecting my knives to pretty harsh conditions, I decided to buy a couple of the byrds (cara cara and a crossbill......i love hawkbills) that if I were to damage them or lose them I wouldn't be too heartbroken. Anyway, I am a lineman by profession (electricity, not football), so i use knives often when splicing cable and especially a hawkbill when skinning smaller wire like 1/0. I honestly didn't expect anything spectacular out of the crossbill, but WOW! For a 20 some-odd dollar knife it has surpassed all of my expectations on performance and reliability and kept a decent edge even after skinning lots and lots of thick plastic jacketing from wire. While the steel used on the byrds isn't the highest regarded steel (as far as this forum and knife knuts go) it is far superior than that of the hook/lineman's skinning knife that most linemen use. I'll definitely get some pics of my knives at work up here. The handles are all scratched up, the paint has worn from the clips, and they are gorgeous and have more character than I ever will;)

p.s. I've been registered here for awhile now. Mostly, I've been lurking; getting a feel for the forums and the people within it while I learn a thing or 20, and you all seem like the most genuine, and good-hearted people as I'm sure you are. Pleasure being being part of such a great community. Look forward to contributing and participating in the future.

Love Spydies with character. Post more often and, pics are always welcome.:)

Don't have any pics, but I just used my millie to cut skin.

IT was a blister which had a hole rubbed in it until all the fluid drained out (yuck!)

I'd been planning to remobe it for a while :D

I use my knives all the time too. I worked on a small farm over the summer, and a Tenacious and later a Manix 2 were my work knives. Both got used in scraping, cutting weeds tangled up in equipment, tubing/hoses, etc. I also use my EDC knife a lot, I perform a lot of mundane tasks like every knife-nut, but I do quite a bit of food prep with mine, cutting apples and such. I loaned my knife to somebody the other day to prepare a meal because the knives at the place we're staying for a vacation are hopeless.

I also cut a lot of paper :D.

not quite 'at work', more like 'Christmas Eve - all set' but anyways...

I use my Chinook at work all the time, but my hands are usually too busy to take pictures.
