spydies in the movies...

I was watching Entrapment with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones this weekend...in one of the openning scenes, Catherine cuts an old painting off a frame using what looks like a Spyderco Delica or Endura. Anyone seen this movie...or know if it really was a Spydie.

It was a fully-serrated Delica.
There's been a lot of threads about Spydies in the movies...but some off the top of my head I can list here:

Anaconda.
Out of Sight.
Fight Club.
Jennifer Eight.
Cliffhanger.
Payback.
Point of No Return.
Exposure.
What's the movie where Susan Sarandon protects the little boy for free from gangsters? Forget the title.

I believe it was titled "Mr. Murder" where yet another Baldwin brother plays a clone on a TV program and deploys a Mariner stainless on a few occasions. But never used it!

I Saw Stange Days last week. In the final scene 'hero' is attaced by his old friend, who snaps open an Endura. Hits it to heros shoulder.

The Client is the Susan Sarandon movie
Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence had a civilian in it

The Sarandon movie was "The Client" by John Grisham and the knife was a customized Police. A Police was also used in the Stephen King movie "Needful Things", I won't say how, it's a bit too gross for a dog lover. Despite Sal's best intentions, his products keep turning up in the hands of the bad guys.

Although not a movie, I believe I have seen at least a couple Spydies on the X-Files. As I recall none were used to do anything to harm anyone. These actually got me more interested in Spyderco.

Outside of a dog, a Knife is man's best friend. Inside a dog it is very, very Dark.

Sorry to bring up another company here, but Agent Mulder carries a Gerber EZ-Out. Why do I know that? Couldn't be too much TV could it?

Clip Point:
Mulder had switched his E-Z-Out Jr. for a Kershaw Liner Action, semi-serrated. (check out the episode about the gated community/monster for the first glimpse of it).
Now who watches too much T.V.?

Has Mulder always carried knives other than a Spyderco. I could have sworn I saw the trademark "hole" on one of his knives. It has been at least 2 years ago, maybe even longer. I want to say it was the episode where the EMT lives off cancer patients and at the end goes after Scully. That was the first inkling that Scully has cancer. That means this episode is at least 3 years old. NOW who watches to much T.V.

Mulder has carried a number of neat gadgets, several of which were the Spyderco, the EZ-Out, and the Kershaw. The EMT who was after Scully is currently on ER as the chief of surgery (or some other such position). My wife says he was on Fame many moons ago.

Now who watches to much TV. LOL. This is fun!

DonL,
Yes you are right the EMT is now on ER and is a surgeon. However he is no longer chief of surgery, his official title alludes me but it is something more administrative(administrative head of Hospital) which also covers the ER, he is also of course a surgeon. I don't recall ever seening any Spyderco's on ER though.
Now do you think I much too much T.V.

That last sentence was supposed to read "Now do you think I WATCH much too much T.V." this addition kind of ruins the effect doesn't it.

Speaking of knives in movies, Has anyone seen Terminator 2 recently? Sara, I think that's her name, was playing with what looked like a SOG Bowie. Then she just stuck it in a table and left it there! I kept yelling, "Take the knife, take the knife" but they never listen. Then the boy and "Ahnold" found it, and didn't even take it with them. Stupid people.

There was also a Spyderco Rescue in Strange Days. The blonde with the dreadlocks flicks it open in one scene.

Two important questions in life:
Do they have a catalog?
Did you know there's a town called "Batman" in Turkey?

On an old Halloween episode of Millennium Frank Black used a serrated Delica or Endura to carve a pumpkin.

A villain snapped open a Police model but got his butt kicked by Uma Thurman in The Avengers.

On some show on Discovery (was it FBI Files?) they showed a police evidence collection, which included a case full of knives. I recognized several Schrade slip-joint models, like trappers and stockmen, and some Buck-style folding hunters. But no Spydercos.

Now who really, really watches too much TV???

And who could forget Paul McCrane (the ER guy) as Emil, the bad guy who gets mutated by the toxic waste and splattered all over a windshield in RoboCop?

In the land of the blind a one-eyed man is king.

OK, You definitely watch WAY to much tv. You even new his name when he was on Robocop.
That one has me beat.
Eric

craigz, eaisaacs is right, we bow to your knowledge of TV trivia. Who da man? You da man.

The big question becomes, however, was there any Spydees in Robocop?

PS. Great sig line. DCD fan?
