Do you think it would be possible to build a kydex sheath that would retain a spyderco folder in such a w3ay that the blade was opened upon the draw? I am thinking of some sort of lip or catch that would engage the opening hole but not hinder the draw. Basically could you accomplish the same thing as a wave or ziptie with a kydex sheath? It seems doable to me but I have never worked with kydex and don't know. Maybe someone is already doing it?

Already done, but you use an inertia opening. I've been making neck/pack sheaths for years that let you add an inertia opening to the drawstroke, thereby deploying blade on the draw. Pivot and Spydie hole exposed.

indeed, i posted a pic on the Spyderco websites forum about a new holster i got for my civilian. http://66.113.178.251/forums/showthread.php?t=12905
I can draw it by the handles and do a Spyderdrop, but when i draw it by the Spyderhole the blade locks first and then loosens out of the sheath. Because my holster was designed or a Civilian i don't use this methob in fear of belly cutting myself. But it works perfectly :D It is also one of the best sheaths i ever seen! :)
