Spyderco persistence or kershaw leek I am on the hunt for a new edc to replace my clash... nothing wrong with the clash, I just want a better quality knife

That really depends on what you want from the knife. The Kershaw Skyline compares better to the Persistance, though.

Personally, I would get a FFG Delica (my 1st EDC). Its thinner and lighter than the persistence and has better steel. Its $52 on Amazon but you can find it cheaper on ebay or the for sale forum. Between the two you listed, I would choose the Persistence because it's a Spyderco and it has g10 scales (I don't like the Leek, too slippery).

Well, I'd go with Kershaw on this one. Has better steel and is USA made. Spyderco's upper line is far superior to most production knives, though.

+1 To the Skyline, amazing knife for the money. On the Persistance I can't say I like 8Cr13MoV too much.

The leek is a sweet little knife but not my first choice for an edc. The tip is very thin and the handle has little to no grip. I'm partial to Spyderco holes so my vote would be for any Spyderco. Delica, Sage1, Dragonfly2 or Caly3 all stand out in my mind.

one thing i never cared for with the leek is the edge has no belly. i dont think a standard leek has any better steel than the persistence. the only thing is has going for it is the assist, and i think the spydy hole makes an assist moot. i carried a leek for years before i ever heard of spyderco. i think now knowing spyderco well as i do i wouldnt go with the leek. depending on which leek variant you went with knives like the native 4 (s30v) delica/endura, even the manix 2 and stretch come into play. i have all of those including the leek and persistance and tenacious and they all out perform the leek. unless u want to sit and flick it open and amaze yourself at how fast the leeks blade comes out. past that ..........

The Leek is a great knife for certain tasks, but for general use I'd definitely go with the Persistence. However, as others have mentioned, the Skyline is another Kershaw that's much more comparable to the Persistence in terms of size, blade shape, and versatility.

Between the Skyline and Persistence, my pick would be the Persistence because I prefer the ergonomics and the slightly thicker liner lock and blade stock. Really, though, you can't go wrong with either one.

I'd get a Leek over the Persistence, but a Skyline or Delica over either. I think the Skyline may be the greatest value on the market right now and the Delica is a legend and rightly so.

I think for the reasonable price of the two knives, get them both. That way you'll have two good knives to try out for yourself with very little spent. My .02 :)

I'd say persistence. I actually like the Leek's blade a lot more, love the modified wharnie. But the ergonomics of the handle aren't great for a working knife, IMO. Slippery handles with an AO feature that really pops. As well as the thumbstud being very tucked into the handles making it more difficult to operate. Also, because of the AO, there is a good amount of resistance trying to close the knife. Not a good thing on such a slippery knife.

I think the Leek looks better, carries better, and seems "nicer", but when it comes to working it just flat out doesn't cut it for me.

I have and love my Leek, but I just recently bought a Delica, and there is just no comparison. VG-10 runs circles around Sandvik, and it is totally worth the extra $20. Still buy the Leek, though, it kicks ass as far as assisted goes. If you want the premium steel with the Leek, look at the Random Leek or G10.

depends on how hard you use your edc. I have a habit of abusing one and keeping a smaller sheeple friendly scalpel in the other pocket. So my vote would have to be both.

This, exactly.

I had a Leek and loved it, but never really used it because of the slippery handles, heavy weight, and difficult closing. Not only did I have to overcome the AO, but the framelock was not easy to unlock for me. I gave it to a friend who actually used his Leek, before he lost it. He was thrilled and I was relieved that such a fine knife would actually get the love of regular use.

Both good knives for general use or edc.
I had never been that interested in the Leek, but I got one for free when I joined KnifeRights and I'm really quite impressed with it.

I really love my Leek for everyday at the office use. I have big hands but at the office I am not needing to pry open crates or cut firewood, so the thin tip and mod Wharn blade shape is quite nice. I disabled the A/O and could not be happier. Nice little razor in my pocket that sheeple don't freak over!

Skyline is awesome!! I just got one it hasn't left my pocket since, on the other hand, my Delica 4 is my go-to knife and it is the folding knife I compare all my others to. My blur is a favorite as well as I highly reccomend it and any of those listed above over the Leek or Persistence.
