Hi everybody. I don't know whether this is the right place to post it, but the SpyKer is finally available.

I just ordered one from NewGraham, and, as I had been been waiting for quite some time for it to come out, on the off chance there are some other knifenuts out there in the same "condition" :) , I just wanted to point it out.

Hope it's useful, regards.

I have to say that there are a few things that ruin this one for me.

1.) Logo Placement. It looks too large, messes with the sleek lines of the blade. I think it'd look better with a smaller logo, placed asthetically on the flat

2) The Inlay of the concentric half circles. This makes it look less imposing than the knife should be. I know Ken Onion is known for colorful designes, but well... I honestly feel he'd be better off designing clown pants than knives sometimes.

3) Not an assisted opener...

4) 3,000 is not a limited run...

This might be one of the first non-auto, non-bali knives that has piqued any interest in me for quite a while. It's quite a bit like the Kershaw Bump, but not as fugly (very similar handle shapes, but the green or blue Bump handles don't appeal to me at all). The unique blade shape seems very interesting and potentially very useful. It's got a recurve, a belly, and a wharncliffe all in one blade. I really dig the silver G-10, IMO a cooler choice than carbon fiber.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

I saw a couple this week and it is a really nice knife with all the quality that we expect from Spyderco. I don't know if it is worth $160 + though. It is basically a Spyderco Bump without the Speedsafe. I may wait until the new Terzoulas come out. I think a Starmate in S30V will be a better knife that the Spyker. I also want the Terzoula small version also.

No, Spyderco has no assisted openers. I know Sal started a thread a while back asking ELUs what they thought about the possibility of assisted opening Spydies.

No assisted opening in the Spyker? one would think that that would be Kershaw's contribution. Otherwise the lines are just Onion's. I dunno, I too would love to see a spyderco assisted opener.

Clown pants?????

Dgardin , Are you refering to the silver g-10 inlays ? if so what makes you think they are mine?

I handled one last night at the local knife store. It's a beauty. It was interesting to hold it up next to a certain Benchmade. ;) Anyway, at least one is available from River's Edge in Columbus, Ohio, 614/792-3343.
