I just got my first emerson about three days ago (used). When I oil it, it squeaks. I'm using militec-1. Any word?

I took it apart, cleaned it thouroughly, etc. Still squeaks.

??

Also, does anyone ever change the grind on their blade? I can't get used to the chisel grind, and I also can't seem to get a sharp edge. I use a Spyderco sharpmaker, as well as a flat benchstone. I'm thinking I'll just put some time in it and sharpen the flat side (right side) and make it a normal grind. Think it'll work?

Midget,

You'll need to reprofile both sides to the same angle. You'll either need diamond rods for your SharpMaker or an Edge Pro.

I had a friend who borrowed my Commander , well his good intention of suprising me went bad went he took it to a local knife shop to be sharpened. They totally hose the edge by trying to put a " normal " edge on it .

I had Eric Blair regrind it and reprofile the edge to put the chisel edge back on. He did both the Commander and super commander. This is now about the sharpest knife I have ever used ( next to the Blackwood Henchman I had ).

I decided to switch a few blades around.... this all started Blade West weekend after many bottles of New Castle.....they said it would not fit... they said it would take too much work....they said I was drunk...

Both lockup fine but the Mini Comm don't allow the Karambit blade to close all the way , easily fixed though.....
