Squared hilts help date model 5?

I have a Randall Model 5-4 with stag handles, 5 modern spacers, and a rounded brass hilt (top of half-hilt). The N-S buttons date it to pre-1995. I'd like to know more about the age. Sorry, I'm unable to post photos.

I saw one with a square-topped hilt that reportedly was made during the early 1980s. I was told that the squared hilts were earlier than the rounded ones for a Model 5. True?

Hi:

I'm not 100% positive about the 5-4 but I do know that a square/flat hilt can still be requested today on many models including #3's and the larger #5's.
