What do you all think this handle material is? My buddy just picked up a Sarsquatch and the guy he bought it from said it was black canvas but the color layers in it look different than any of the black canvas than either of us have on any of our knives. What do you all think? I can't figure out how to post it bigger but hopefully you'll be able to zoom in enough to see it.

It's dirty --- tell him to wash the handle with dish soap and then thoroughly dry with a hair dryer. It'll look more uniform

If it is stripped, it was originally coated black and has black linen micarta.

Yeah, I've just seen the pics he sent me and it does appear that they have been sanded on. The part I'm talking about is there in the unsanded grooved part of the scales. It has very distinct and uniform color layers that I'm not used to seeing in black canvas.

Microphone check, is this thing on?

Thanks Jaxx. I don't know the full history on it. The blade is satin but it was done by Ban Tang.

Lol! Sorry, man. Started writing a reply to yours and kids started crying in another room. Had to drop the phone to see what the heck was going on. Haha!

Oops haha --- I thought dirt/oil/grime might be the issue --- but it certainly does look like Black Linen

I sure like the linen handle scales. The tighter weave makes my eyes happy.
