Yea so I'm really beginning to love the Millie. My most recent version is the Cruwear model...she's starting to accumulate that dark film of a user on the lighter G10. Really enjoying it. That said, something that's developed just recently, say over the last 3 weeks, has me stumped as to how to deal with it. Squeaks...she squeaks...and it's driving me crazy. Such a simple and subtle thing I know but still, its beginning to make me nuts. It all started after a particularly tough day in the yard. Afterwards I washed her out and put a drop of oil in the pivot. From that point until on she squeaked whenever I press the liner in to release the lock. Yea, every time I press the liner to the side it squeaks due to the friction between it and the lock face on the blade.

Anyone ever experience this and if so any suggestions as to how to alleviate the issue?

Before you start taking it apart and heating things up, I'd suggest rubbing a pencil point against the lock face portion of the tag to deposit some graphite there as a lubricant. Can't guarantee it will work, can guarantee there's zero chance of it turning your knife into an expensive paperweight.

Ahh, now that's a good idea. I'll give it a shot tonight and report back.

Carbidizing the liner might help

I don't recommend this at all, ever. It will only void your warranty. If there is something wrong, the first thing to do is what Deacon recommended. If that wails, wash the knife in warm water with Dawn or Joy dish soap (something that is known to cut through grease and oil). Rinse with clean water, dry using keyboard duster or "canned air", and add a very small drop of oil to each side of the blade Aside from that the liner on this particular knife is hardened steel, the tang is also hardened steel hard to see how carbidization would benefit this time around.

Quick update...

The recommendation you made Deacon worked for the most part. Thank you. The only time I'm still hearing the squeak is when I really flick it hard. That said I'm happy with the results and will continue to apply the pencil lead. I'm also going to try and apply some powdered graphite and see if that helps as well. I know sometimes it takes graphite a little while to smooth out and work.

Thanks again guys.
