I just got a Strider AR in a trade. I don't remember if it was squeaking at first because I almost immediately stripped it down for a cleaning and lube. I've disassembled, lubed, and reassembled the knife several times now thinking I did something wrong (too much lube, too little, lube in the wrong place, etc) but it hasn't stopped. The ceramic ball on the lock is making a metal rubbing on metal squeaking sound that I've never heard from a knife before. Any idea what's wrong?

Open and close it repeatedly, wear it in. Add a little lube every once and awhile. Then strip clean and lube. To me it sounds like the "race" where the ball detent slides across the blade is not worn in and is binding very little and squeaking.

Most important is to never ask questions about Strider knives. You may end up with a long, protracted, pointless, mind-numbing thread. Just look at the monster I created on General Knife Discussion. :barf:

My new PT was initially very stiff. I also lubbed it well and then worked the joint 100 or so time. It then became much smoother and easier to open.
