Squirrels have a weird sense of humor

There are a lot of old pine trees where I live so as you can imagine a lot of squirrels come there to eat. When I first moved in I thought they were kind of cool. After a while my opinion changed.

While working in my vegetable garden I could hear some squirrels up in the trees and parts of pine cones falling to the ground. After a while a pine cone came buzzing past my head. I jumped and looked up in the trees. There was a squirrel out on a branch above me that started making a noise that sounded like someone laughing.

When I went back to work in the garden I saw the pine cone that barely missed me. The squirrel had chewed off all the parts of the pine cone that stick out except for 3 at the very end. It looked like the fins on a dart. I'm pretty sure he left those on so he would have a better aim when he threw it at me.

I told my wife what happened and she just smiled and shook her head. A few days later we were both outside when a pine cone came buzzing past us both. Right after that the squirrel started making his noises.

My wife said, "That crazy squirrel is laughing at us". I just smiled and shook my head.

Sounds like you need a pellet rifle!

They're irritable animals, always scolding me or the cats at work. When my wife and I first got married we lived in a rental house and they had chewed their way into the attic above the laundry room.
We got to hear quite a bit of their home life right on the other side of the wall above our heads at night.
Squeak squeak, squeal :)

Thats funny as hell, thanks for the laugh...... Ive got one for you, about five years back i was sittin on a lake ice fishing, i looked out across the ice maybe 150 yards away and seen a squirrel on the ice, he worked his way across the ice too me eventually, came right up maybe 10 feet away looking at me like what are you doin out here dummy??? I had finished my snacks so i tossed him a mealworm, he ate it i tossed another he ate it then climbed up on my lap, i fed him every mealworm i had he was content just sittn there a few minutes then he jumped off and walked back the way he came from, and i did the same seeing how i was all out of bait, but i thought it was worth it...:D

we like our squirrels , they make us laugh . Of course the wife always feeds them . so they always put on a show .

Squirrels are EVIL! I've had quite a few close calls with the pine cones, one of them was green. It's kinda scary having one of those pine cones come whizzing passed your head while grinding on a hot billet of damascus. I had to take a break and pick up the pellet gun. Squirrel season had just opened. :)

Too funny!!!

I still remember the first time I saw a "squirrel dressing" knife at a show down south. A LOT of those folks hunt and eat them.

It cracked me up because up here in YankeeTown they protect them! ;) There are actually a couple of squirrel bridges, very ornate little suspension bridges called "Nutty Narrows," that run across a couple of busy roads from one huge old oak tree to another.... so that the little suckers can cross safely!!! LMAO

It wouldn't be as funny if it weren't true! :D

I like the chipmunks we have around these parts, they're tiny and go a million miles an hour. I grew up hearing my dad call 'em "super charged 4X4's" ;) :D

I think there might be a meth lab around here as well and it looks like the squirrels found it. There is about a half mile single lane road going to my house. When I am coming home the squirrels will dash back and forth toward the car then into the trees beside the road bouncing back and forth between the tree trunks. Reminds me of the old cartoon "Ricochet Rabbit".

Whenever my wife says squirrels are cute I remind her, they are nothing but a rat with good hair.

When I lived in Houston squirrels found their way into my attic. they set up home and, in the course of time, they died. Each time one died the house would develop a very particular funk for two to three weeks. Eventually, i found where they entered the house and I plugged the hole.

For what it's worth, if you do decide to shoot the vermin, you'll have the opportunity to discover how they taste. My strong advice in these matters is don't grill them, unless you really enjoy the taste and texture of eating rope.

With a lot of good press agents.

Actually I kinda like them, but then the trees in my yard are firs and have very small cones.

My menagerie is getting bigger. I was out working on my jet boat and when I looked up there were 8 deer standing around all with in 20 yards, 1 doe is especially tame and lets me walk up with in a few feet. There is also a pair of magpies that come around as well as a manx cat that I am pretty sure is wild.

I don't mow the grass except right by the house and the deer like it that way, plus they lay up in the over grown lilac bushes as do a couple cottontails. I give them a little feed in the winter to help them out and in the summer I toss them a few apples or carrots now and then. The magpies come for the feed I put out for the deer in the winter, the feral manx cat is getting used to me and I now put out a bowl with some cat food. Yup, I am an easy mark. But, I have learned a lot about whitetail and had a few laughs watching them. The other day I was watching a fawn follow a magpie around, The magpie was eating something in the grass and almost as soon as he found it the fawn would come over start eating and the magpie would hop a few feet over and start over.

Believe it or not they're fairly tasty. Pellet gun works. I used to always bring a squirrel arrow with me when bow hunting as well.
