Squirt or Juice?

I can look online and see the various tool options on these, and I know the Squirt is smaller and lighter weight than the Juice, but it's one thing to "see" them online and another to actually carry & handle them. I'm hoping to get some input from owners as to how they compare. I realize this is subjective, and depends on your lifestyle, etc.

Can/do you carry a Juice in your pocket instead of in a belt sheath? Can you carry a Squirt in the little watch pocket in a pair of blue jeans? Which one do you like better, and why? Any other observations/comments you have would be greatly appreciated! ;)

You can carry a squirt in the watch pocket or on a keychain easily. I've pocket carried a Juice before but as I rarely use pliers, the weight was just too much banging around in the bottom of my pocket. Belt carry would be fine, but if I'm going to belt carry and the weight will be supported by the belt, might as well carry something more substantial.
I have a full sized ST300 close at hand and carry a Squirt S4 on my keychain daily.

Other than the Squirt S3 ( wire strippers ) , that breed just isn't very usefull . The juice is of a size that might be usefull , but the implements are crude , and small cast pliers don't fill me with confidence . About the smallest multi I take seriously is the PST or Sideclip .

With billet cut , or forged pliers the Juice could be a real Butt kicker . The implements need improvements .

As you say, belt carry supports the weight, but it needn't require a sheath. Suspended from a belt into a front pocket by a hanger, a Juice caries just fine. In fact, that's what I have in my pocket right now. It's hardly noticeable. OTOH, there is no denying that bigger is better.

I have a Juice XE6. It's the mother of the Juices at this time, and you can tell by it's weight. I carry mine on its sheath on my belt.

It's not a pocket carry for my standards. But I do like it. I must admit however, that I'm not carrying it as much as I was expecting. And the weight has something to do with it.

I can't comment on the Squirt, sorry.

Good luck.

They are two very different multi-tools and not really fair to compare the two. I keep a squirt (P4) on my keys. If I am going to carry a juice, I'll just throw it in my pocket. I wouldn't wear the juice on my belt, if I am going to wear an MT in a sheath on my belt, I am just going to go with a full-size MT (leatherman wave or charge).

here are a couple pics for size reference between the two.

EDIT: If there is anything else I can help you do to reference the size, let me know. I know pictures don't always help the best, but sometimes it's better if you see a picture of the item next to other things.

Very helpful!

Going by the weight of the Juice (which I forget at the moment), I personally don't think I would pocket carry it. Your point of "if I am going to wear an MT in a sheath ... ", is well taken and I can understand that. Maybe I'll have to look at the full-sized ones. Thanks!

Not a problem. The weight of the Juice is actually pretty damn impressive for what you get. Leatherman's website has it as 4.4oz for the S2 version (my favorite). Hell, a lot of folding knives weigh more than that. It can be somewhat bothersome to pocket carry, however, since it doesn't have a pocket clip. For your around the house, or out and about chores, it's a great tool.

Ahhhhh ........ the Bic lighter comparison! Now I can relate to that! :D Great pics showing the size of the pliers, too! Thanks again! ;)

Update: Mail just got here and I got my Squirt P4 today. No other MT's owned or ordered so far.

First impressions:
The pliers seem like they would be useful as an extension of your thumb and forefinger, but with a tighter grip. Not a tool to put much torque on, however. :thumbdn:
The file could come in handy for rounding off rough edges on things.
I guess the little awl will punch a starter hole and scrape under your fingernails as well as a bigger one.
The knife blade: Started a V-grind on the backside, and it sharpened up pretty well.
The 3 "so called screwdrivers": What a joke! No need for anything this small in my life - couldn't torque their way out of a wet paper bag! :thumbdn:

I'll be looking more seriously at a Juice and full-sized MT's.

I strongly believe a Leatherman Charge or a Victorinox Spirit is by far the best overall. This is because they combine the carry-ability of the pocket sized Juice and the strength of a heavy duty SURGE or SwissTool.

I personally think the Juice S2 is by far the best everyday carry multitool as it can be carried on it's SMALL belt sheath or in the pocket and it goes unoticed.

The Squirt is a little too lite duty for me. The pliers are really only good for small intricate tasks like repairing jewelery etc. The Squirt S4 is better because the scissors just cut, you don't put any lateral force on them by turning bolts etc as you would with the P4.

There's actually 4 screw drivers since I think that the end of the file is supposed to be another one. A lot of people really look at it too critically, it is something that is designed to be carried of your keychain (as I do). When I need a flashlight, I don't go reaching for my Photon Microlight keychain light, just like when I need a multi-tool, I don't go reaching for my Squirt. It's great to have on your keychain since most people don't always have a real MT on them. I carry mine on my keychain so that no matter where I go, I will have atleast some kind of MT ;)
