SR-1 arrives in the US

Well, another dealer had them at $369 - then, as recent as moments ago, they were $379 - but 'out of stock'. Today, according to their e-mail announcement, they are $395 - and 'in stock'. I was notified by e-mail by them as a result of my attempt to order one several weeks back at the then lower current price. I haven't noticed an increase in the lira vs the dollar, so why the steady increase... is Lion Steel trying to recoup other losses? No matter - I told myself that when the SR-1 exceeded the cost of a CRK Large Sebenza - now in S35VN steel - I'd forget the SR-1 and go with the known quantity. I've had an affinity for things Italian over the years - my second new car, a '73 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina starting my madness - I would own eight more Alfa's over the years - and a new '76 Fiat 131, too. Sadly, neither marque has been available new in this country in many years... and I drive a Jeep.

Stainz,

With the acquistion of Chrysler, or at least a large stake, Fiat is again available in the U.S.

I don't understand why Lionsteel does not use a stainless blade on the SR-1 or I might be tempted. It is a beautiful knife as most things Italian designed.

Sleipner is not a Carbon Steel. After used it for several months I can guarantee you that it has not big corrosion problems.

How corrosion resistant is Sleipner, sir? I love the SR-1 design but being in Hawaii and always being right by salt water I was always afraid to purchase such a beautiful knife and have it rust on me.

Sleipner it is not the right steel to use in a salt water habitat.
You can have it but you must be sure to keep it always clean.
