Hey guys/gals I was thinking of getting my RMD a Mirror finish and convex edge, but im worried bout it rusting. I hear that mirror finishes help the rust issue but by how much. thanks

Sr-101 rust question

With a mirror finish and an application of a coating like Ren Wax you should be pretty much worry free. But as always with a high carbon steel one really should keep maintenance on the list.
I have both satin and bead blast SR101 blades down here in muggy old San Antonio and have found that Flitz every once in a while does wonders, it really gets into the pores of the metal. I have one Rat Mastiff that I haven't treated in four or five years and its just fine but for a slight patina. I also have a satin finished one that's never been treated and nothing so far, I do keep them dry though. Some in their sheath, some not.
