Over the last year Senior Bide from Brazil has made some gorgeous sorocabanas that Mr Ivan Campos has help get out to us collectors. I received mine last month and was very impressed. In fact, I just love it. Has anyone used their knife? I told Ivan that I was going to but just haven't taken the plunged. Any of the collector's out there put it to the test?

This was a great project that Ivan helped facilitate and he worked hard to get these knives into our hands. It is very much appreciated. We're lucky to have such an outstanding guy like Ivan among us. It was an honor learning about Senior Bide who has been making knives for 60 years! What a great community the knife world is.

Hey Greg,

Sr. Bide makes a very nice blade for the price. It came with a great convex edge on it and while I was sceptical of the handle construction, I now think it is fine. I bounced it off aged hard wood, split logs, did fuzz sticks, hacked a few rocks, and even slashed the sh*t out of some sort of small wild animal that lept out at me while I was cutting brush at night. (It then proceeded to go off the edge of a 60' cliff...) (Blood stains a carbon steel blade if you let it sit overnight!) I did manage to dull it and put a few dings in the edge but it was still very seviceable at the end of the trip.

I had an MS touch up the edge after my trip and he stated he could not make as much knife for that price. That by itself is an endorsment IMO. It is back to hair popping and ready to head out with us this weekend.

If you have one use it...

I'm still patiently waiting for mine. I think I was either 19 or 20 on the list and I know the Sr. has been sick this past year.

Do you know about where you were on the list. I remember Ivan took the first 20 orders and as far as I know that was it.

When it gets here I'll probably think about using it but in the end it will spend a lot of time being studied and admired first.

Hi Dave,
I was pretty down on the list as far as I remember. Probably near #20. Email Ivan and ask him.

Hello

I am very glad to see how happy you guys are with your knives and I'll let Sr. Bíde know about it tomorrow when I meet him.
I should be delivering the 14th knife early next week and maybe the 15th late on next week, as I know Sr. Bíde had two knives started by last week.
I am following the line of orders and you are the 19th, Dave. After the original twenty, I have filled another group of around twenty, but I honestly don't know if they will get their knives.
The good knews for those who want a Sorocabana is that Ariovaldo, Sr. Bíde's apprentice, has closed his cabinet shop and is working as a full time maker, now, his quality being just as good.
