Got the rodent solution (great blade), and now I got a thing or two for the busse active duty.
It's my understanding they are some what similar, but really can't tell....
Anyone got a comparison pic of the two? A spine shot would be great too.

I would like to see this as well! Been thinking about getting a AD myself. Come on fellas....let's see em

I hope some come thru with your pic request.
The standard offering of each of the knives mentioned had me with a question much like yours.
Then one day while scouring the exchange, I found this little guy fresh out of the custom shop.
Eliminates all the talon hole / small choil issues some say detract from these knives. Only negative of the one I have is the tip is a bit blunt. Not a big deal for me, but I can see how some like pointer tips on their knives.

That's an awesome variant on the rodent, Need2know. That choil improves a knife in this size IMO...and I like gettin' as close to the edge as possible for fine work.

What's up with that?
My RDM LE had the same issue...I guess it's the convexing of the edge that triggers the bluntness of the tip. Al my other rats with "v" edge have a SHARP point. And I can use a sharp point. A blunt one not so much :D.
Nothing that can't be fixed though.

No AD/RS comparison pics?

Agreed, the choil on this little Solution is the way to go. Fits nice in the hand. As for the tip, it prevents accidentally poking yourself when you resheath in a relative hurry. I may mess with it sometime, but I truly own a lot of knives. So I am in no hurry to muck with this one.

Anybody got a pic or two they will post here to help tek77?

If nothing pops up in here, I suggest putting in the dreaded leg work and scour the photo threads here and on the Busse forum to see what shakes loose. Or try the GOOG search. Never know.

Here ya go, Meaner Street, Solution, and Active Duty

My AD is well used and carried very often, I love that little knife. :)

leatherman Thanks for the pic. I have a RS on order and trying to decide between several Busse right now, but I like the meaner street. does the end of the MS bother you while carrying?

If I am carrying high ride, like on a Randall style pouch, it does on occasion try to poke the ribs. But it does take a good torque of the body to do so. I dont really have much of a muffin top so it doesn't get me there. :p Carry horizontal or canted or even drop loop and its not going to be much of an issue.

I'm torn on the looks of the handle, but the Meaner handle just has that more aggressive look to it. Might not be acceptable in mixed company. my cop bro in law noticed when I was carrying mine and asked me if I really wanted to carry such an aggressive knife. Made me take a pause. 'Course he notices every friggin thing! including expired window tags on passing cars.

No muffin top for me, but i should have one, i probably have a 20lbs tape worm inside me. thanks for the pic again, will be emailing or calling you.

Ah! Metabolism , mine is off the charts as well. :p My family is very frustrated at that. :D

I look forward to talking with you!

OK....I can't justify a blade almost identical to the RS, but I REALLY want one.
Thanks for the pic leatherman. Much appreciated.
What thickness is yours? I'm thinking .150 for mine.

Email me at rsbow74@aol.com if you want pics. I can't uP load them for some reason??? I like the RS better but the AD carries better for me??
Thank you cut it out. Looks like leatherman took care of it. Appreciate it nonetheless.

I've got two AD's, that one is the Heavy Duty, at around .20 I think. My original AD custom shop is .15 and a much better slicer, at least before I reprofiled my Heavy Duty. The Meaner is a slicing monster as well.

I like this choil option and have a Custom Rodent Solution on order for a dedicated skinning knife. I think I will have this choil on mine as well. I have ordered it with a V grind 20 or 25 degree's and will "Blue" the satin once I receive it so I will not have to worry with rust. With the Custom Rodent Solution, Busse Basic- 4 Anorexic, (Wife's) Magnum Bear Cub and a CABS, I think all my skinning knife need's will be covered. Course, you can never have too many and will alway's buy knives that can skin well. :)

OK. This is a really tough comparison. I absolutely LOVE the handle on the RS, but the AD handle is fantastic as well. As far as the blade, they are both very similar. If I had to choose, I'd take a Satin Custom RS As long as it had a great convex edge on it over the CG AD. My favorite, however, is the BAD. I really like my small blades to be thin, and the BAD is a wicked slicer. I would really like to see a thin satin RS, or try one of the hollow ground models.

The one thing that I didn't like about the CG RS was the edge. Mine came dull as heck and the edge was way too thick. If the same happened with an AD, I would be able to fix it pretty easily, but with the RS, I tried for hours and hours to get the edge I want. I have a really hard time sharpening 101, especially when it needs to be reprofiled like my RS did.
