It came today! It took a good 5 minutes before I realized I had a sage blade instead of black, but I think I like it and shall keep it! May get a black blade if more come available.

It came super sharp outta the box and after a stropping session it just sings now!

I'm think I may try it out on the couch tonight. I live alone, a love seat will suffice. I usually sit in the recliner anyway :-)

So far so good, just gotta get the nerve together and go break it in out back.

If somebody is looking for a cheap pair of pants for their Waki, I've just discovered my machete sheath fits nicely. It isn't a custom fit, but at least I can carry it until I get some kydex supplies.

The sheath is a heavy weight leather job that I got from a land surveying supply company for about $25.
If anyone wants more info regarding where I got it, email me at ryan28801@yahoo.com

The machete sheath I have is made for a 22" blade, but I believe they had shorter ones, maybe a 20" or even an 18". The length I have allows the center rivet of the scales to sit at the top of the sheath opening...handle 1/2 concealed.

The hand guard is just barely under the width of the opening and that holds it firmly in place...shouldn't fall out. It dangles a little below the knee, if you are 5'10" at least.

I'm a cheap sumbody:D and was happy to find this cheap-ish solution! (I do plan to still make a kydex sheath too, one that will take a teklok &/or shoulder strap, I'm thinking)

Better than carrying it under your arm! Or letting it sit in the house collecting dust 'cause your neighbors look at you funny when you come and go with your sword.

I had made a cardboard sheath for mine when it first came. The cardboard was covered in white packaging paper and taped together with clear packing tape. On the ends had any color, black electrical tap to give extra toughness to the throats. My Waki was an Arctic White blade.

I have since changed this a bit as once I picked up the sheathed blade and pulled it though my left hand only to realize it was not in the sheath at that moment and did a pretty gross number on three of my fingers. The addidtion of more electrical tape, in a criss-cross manner, to the body of my high price high style sheath has helped to prevent any more of that type of experience.

But how do you keep it on your belt? I tried cutting a belt loop in my cardboard sheath but it only lasted for one lap around the house! ;)
BTW - mine bit me once already, just after stropping, at least it was a clean cut!

I'd hate to bump into the rat that tore into that hog.....

I put a couple of pieces of scrap kydex together and here is what I came up with.
I got a couple of notches cut in for a couple of lengths of paracord just in case...I got almost 30' on there.

In retrospect, without making a kydex tip guard or liner of some sort, the Waki may eventually poke thru the leather sheath.

I have an older machete sheath that was replaced with my new one, I think I may take it to a leather shop and see if I can get them to restitch it a little closer to the Waki's shape. Then I'll have 2 pieced together sheaths!
