SR1 lite?

Please excuse me if this has been dealt with before, but I've been thinking about the SR1.
I like the blade shape, and the overall straight profile.
I love that it has partial steel liners.
I love that the blade is uncoated.
However I find that the blade is a little too thick. I get that it isn't intended to be a slicer, but I think with a higher sabre grind the angle wouldn't be so steep. Or if the blade was a millimetre thinner, it would still be a strong knife, but may be better as a knife.
What do you think?

They're made to withstand considerable abuse under harsh "survival" emergency conditions . There are definitely more slicey models ,but you give up some toughness and strength .

Yes that is true, I just wondered if there is a place for both the SR1 and an SR1 Lite?

If CS believes there's a sufficient market , then heck yeah ! ;) But it would be kinda a contradiction in terms and existing models already cover the application IMO .

I own a sr1 and dont really care for it. while I like its design and what it's made for in theory.......hence why I own one............I find it's not very useful in real life. that said a lite version I'd find not very useful as well since there are already better knife designs and knives for lighter use.

who knows though if they made one I might change my mind when I saw it. the vision I have of it in my head isnt appealing but if I saw it and it was different than what I was picturing.......who knows.....

I’d prefer a mini SR1. Similar construction just maybe an inch shorter overall. 4mm bladestock instead of 4.8mm would be nice too

I guess I'd like a knife with the straight handle profile, with, at least partial liners, maybe 4mm uncoated blade, a little thinner behind the edge so it is stronger than most knives out there, but better at cutting in the everyday situation.

I understand the way you feel. I like the concept of the knife and actually like the knife for the strength and utility it provides for a survival situation. But my needs with outdoor work are more than covered by the Recon1. I have no use in the foreseeable future for the SR1.
I feel that the SR1 was a less expensive, less weighty alternative to the the 4Max. But if the SR1 is too heavy for me to carry, the 4 Max must be a bear!!
Which reminds me, the less expensive , less heavy alternative to the 4 Max is the Ultimate Hunter. Great outdoor work knife and very comfortable for edc. Like the Recon1.
