SR1 or SR2?

I've just gotten my first Lionsteel knife (satin M7) and am so impressed it's time to look at a folder from them. Question is, which one?

When I bought my first Emerson, I bought a Horseman and was underwhelmed only due to the small size. Bought the larger one (CQC8, same design) and was happy. Kept them both.

When I started in Sebenzas, I got the 25. Then all large 21s and Umnumzaans. Now I'm looking for a small Insingo Micarta.

I don't want to make the same mistake with the Lionsteel line.

If you were going to buy your first a Lionsteel folder (Ti only) in the SR line all over again, would you lean toward the SR2 or SR1?

Get the SR-1 Titanium Matte Gray with Sleipner first. Great place to start. SR-2 Aluminum also with Sleipner in vivid colors (I'm partial to the orange) and TiSpine Damascus for class.

Just what I thought. That M7 blade is sweet, you can tell the gene poolage in the larger SR1 blade especially well. So I need to start large as usual, plus you get the cool wood box. Then go small.

So it's just a matter of time before I have both. Do they come up on the Exchange occasionally?

Secondly, does an SR2 comes up less often since it's newer?

Yep, Matt Ti satin blade. Thanks!

SR-1 Titanium does come up on the Exchange as do SR-2. The newer SR-1 are much smoother.

Here's a group picture of my Sleipner-steel, LionSteel-manufactured and Molletta-designed knives: Knife Research Legion (similar to M7 but no solid Micarta handle), LionSteel SR-1 Ti and SR-2 Ti.

Nice collection, and photo. Did you get an M7 also?

Yes, the large one will be first, and be my next knife. I have a 0770CF and a Startac coming this week, will save this for one soon.

Let us know how you like your 0770CF Monday!

No M7 yet and may not get one since the KR Legion is similar. Not getting the Enki since Molletta is working a similar size.

StarTac is the nicest CRK Umnumzaan!

Will advise on ZT 0770CF on Monday in a different thread.

I'm not going to make any friends but I'll never buy another Lionsteel. Lock stick on a $400 knife is ridiculous. Even with their insert. I don't get it either. It has to be an engineering problem. Also, I've owned a tiger jump with the same problem. Sorry, the lockbar doesn't lie.

That is unfortunate, which Lionsteel model gave you a problem?

As far as I know, titanium or aluminum sticky lock with hardened stainless steel insert just doesn't happen. Some LionSteel models were stiff in both the pivot area and the lock bar itself but they smooth/loosen up.

Models with titanium frame locks and no hardened SS insert and the lock bar not being carbidized do have the sticky lock issue. This is true of LionSteel TiSpine, DPx Gear HEST/F, Dendra Tiger Jump & Defender as well as those made by other knifemakers.
