Which one is the most flexible : SRKW Steel SR101 differentially treated or ScrapYard SR-77 transversion wave tempered at 57-59 Rc ?

Logically I would think the ball bearing steel (SR101/52100) would flex more than the jackhammer bit steel (SR-77/S7.)

Love the Dogfather in a vice shots!

Through-hardened SR77 possesses superb lateral strength. In fact, Jerry said it has the same lateral strength as INFI. Based on Waki bending tests, however, it's fair to say that differentially-hardened SR101 approaches SR77 and INFI in strength.

Good luck breaking knives made from any of them.

What I want to see is the return state of both the dogfather and waki in those shots. It's amazing that they can bend so far without snapping but I'd like to see the permanent change to the steel done (if any).

I don't think that INFI has the same flexibility than SR77 and SR101. What's your knowledge about it?

Yes. That is the actual definition of lateral strength . . . the ability of the blade to bend without permanently deforming.

None personally. But Jerry's knowledge is supreme. And he's the one who said so.

To make a long story short, INFI possesses SR77's lateral strength, SR101's edge-holding capability, and greater corrosion resistance than either one. That's why it's the holy grail of Bussekin steel.

Yep that's why I'd like to see what that waki looks like AFTER the cheater tool is used on it. It's impressive that it doesn't snap/splinter while they're bending it but I'd be incredibly interested to see how much of an angle if any was left after that test.

I for one can say that the waki seems super sturdy...smacked some super thick branches with mine as well as treated wood and got no rolls/dings. But as mine is sharp and I'm not a total idiot (just a partial one) I haven't tried bending the sucker yet, considering mine is sharp and I'm in no way an expert in these sort of tests. No thanks, I leave it to the pros.

SR-101 is extremely flexable as well, Ive seen pictures of a ratweiler bent past 70 degrees as well and return to true. Bussekin blades are awesome, all three of em.

Eric said it only took a 5 degree set.

Little knives made from SR101 are Through-hardened and rather rigid.
Big knives made from SR101 are Dual-hardened and flexible.
Big knives made from SR77 are Through-hardened and flexible.

Yeah I would expect that the smaller the blade the easier it would snap like that. Doesn't surprise me one bit. Sad to see a broken down warden though, they're such great little knives (esp after you paracord em!).

I gave this one to a friend yesterday.
His friends at work are watching the WAKI video and flex tests,
So they put this one in a vice to see it flex.
He broke it with one hand and no cheater bar:eek::grumpy:
He guessed the flex at around 10 degrees.

These are very thin and light as a feather.
A totally different knife than the first release.
Actually light enough to be a necker:thumbup:
I did expect it to flex like a noodle though...

I am thinking about giving another to test:)
