I used to be on the forums quite a bit in the past. The last Busse I bought was the Terror Monkey. So it's obviously been quite a bit of time since I've played with the HOGS.
This FMV8 has me totally captivated and I am excited to play in the trough once again.
My question is when did Busse start using SR101 and why.
I know Swamp Rat is a part of the Busse Family and I remember INFI being used on some of their knives. But I never remembered seeing Busse using SR101 until I put my order in for the FMV8.
Thank you for any info...feels good to be back!

Welcome back.
If I remember correctly in O2W Part or, they started "Battle Grade" (sr101) with a BG ASH-1
Maybe as a lower prices alternative to get new piglets involved? Lol

Thanks for the greeting and the info. I love beating the hell out of my Busse's but damn the FMV8 stole my heart instantly. Maybe it will be a good thrower...I'm sure I won't be able to resist trying.

It was 2015 I think. The idea was to make some favorites more affordable by offering them in sr101. Probably also easier to manufacture as it's not a proprietary steel. My experience with sr101 is that it's tougher than my ability to abuse it.

Yeah. Sounds about right. If I remember correctly the Battle Grade line was originally going to be made out of 1095 but after testing Jerry wasn't happy with it so SR101 became the BG steel. Personally, I've come to really adore the stuff.

I have always been extramly fond of SR101 myself. So it was kinda a way of expanding Swamp Rat and letting people enter into the Busse world by making it more affordable.

...... not as I recall mate, the BG line was always going to be SR101 however the Scrapyard TRASH1 (only) was going to be 1095, and was in fact initially offered and priced as such. Dan then announced that they were not able to get 1095 to work as they wanted and it was going to be run in SR101 (with a price increase to match - they of course honored and orders already placed at the 1095 price point including my three :D :D ).

Ahh. Gotcha. That sounds about right. For some reason I was thinking 1095 was going to be an across the board kind of thing and the Trash just happened to be the first model offered. My mistake.
