Hello all you sr2a owners out there, I have a couple questions about the knife as it is a large investment for me, I wouldn't want to spend my money and not be pleased with it.

First, I noticed on all the videos on the tube, the knife is very smooth, and the edge seems to need a touch up, which doesnt bother me, but does the knife loosen/break in over time? No one it seems has commented on this, they always say it has a tight (because the tolerances are so tight) pivot. This doesnt bother me normally because the pivot and everything on all my other knives smooths amd opens easier, ive just never seen anyone mention it.

Second, what do you guys think of the overall package in the alu. Version, is it worth the money or should I just pick up a benchmade 940 instead?

Any and all comments would be most helpful.

Thanks!

Jake

Can't comment on your first questions.

However, having owned an SR2 in orange aluminum, and now an SR1 in violet titanium, I can say without hesitation that these are extremely well-made knives that ought to cost far mare than they do. Fit/finish was perfect on both of my examples. Great design, the 1-peice frame is amazing, the hardened steel insert for the lock bearing surface seems like a nice idea. The blades are great (both mine were Sleipner) and seem to hold an edge quite well in the little bit I've used them. Very tall blades, relative to the length, especially in the SR2, which may or may not strike everyone's fancy. Between the two of them, I had only two gripes: 1) the puny clip on the SR1 -- it didn't seem too out of place on the SR2, but on the larger frame of the SR1 it's comical, and 2) the relative slipperiness of the aluminum of the SR-2 -- not bad, but noticeably less grippy than the titanium.

In all, even at close to $400, the SR1 titanium is a keeper. The SR2a (which can be had new for not much over $170) is a fantastic bargain.

I have the SR-2 A in several colors. It's a relative bargain with the same great Sleipner tool steel blade. The one-piece frame is made from Ergal Aluminum which is as strong as steel. So, it's actually an aluminum frame lock with steel insert on the lock bar face. All mine are very smooth and were like that from day one. If the pivot is too tight you can always adjust it to your preference. It actually costs less than the Benchmade 940!

thanks guys! makes plenty of sense that the broader blade and the slippery aluminum would be a win or lose for some people. i think from what ive heard the ergos make up for the slippery alu. is there a significant break in period on the sr2 or does it break in pretty quick?
