srk by cold steel or ontario tak-1

combatready said:
which would you prefer and why? thanks for the input
The TAK-1 because I have one and I know it works, it is well worth the money and because Jeff and Mike of RAT knives are outstanding stand up guys. If you ever have a problem with the TAk these are the guys who will take care of it. Not that I have had any problems, but I had some questions and Mike responded to my e-mails within two hours.

TAK-1, more comfortable (except for the mini choil) and more suited to cutting (Full flat vs Sabre)

The TAK-1 gets my vote. I have the RAT 1, RAT 5 and I just ordered the RAT 3. They are no non-sense get er done knives built by people with practical knowledge of what a knife needs to be able to do.

The RAT 5 has been helping me clean up brush and other things. He is not up to having his pic taken right now.

What the heck here is his pic. I reprofiled the skull crusher. I have not crushed a skull in years.

I bought it here. Shipping was fast.

I have never handled a RAT 7. The RAT 5 is built with the strength of a bayonet but with the heft and cutting ability of a hatchet. The 1095 steel takes a great edge and holds it well. I am truly impressed with it.
I reprofiled with a belt sander.

thank you sir u have been most helpful now the only thing u cant help me with is the pain of waiting...............................

I was happy to help. Are you buying the TAK?
I am waiting for my RAT 3 now. I know the pain of the wait.

yes the tak is onthe way to i have the rat 3 and that knife is great i food prep with it take it camping and little chores around the house exellent knife you will not be dissapointed

My Rat 3 will be here Thursday. I called them and found out. The RAT 5 got here in 3 days the RAT 3 is taking 4 days.

Hey combatready...

I prefer the Tak I over the SRK..
I've had several SRKs and it is the least used knife I own..
I find the edge far too thick do do anything with..
Still a decent knife,, I just prefer the TAK I...I think a better knife overall...
