SRK, is the CPM 3v worth the extra money?

Hey guys, I'm going to buy an SRK but I can't make up mind on which steel. Obviously the 3v is a better steel, but I can buy the VG-1 black coated version for $120 shipped (keep in mind these are Canadian prices) or the CPM 3v version for $220, plus $13 for shipping.

Basically I just want something I can take camping with me, or into the woods, that i can beat the shit out of. Is the 3v version worth the extra $100?

Lets here what you guys think, thanks!

consider the sk5 version for roughly 38 bucks american.

3v is great, and i like vg1, but for the low cost sk5 just makes sense.

I considered that, it's a hell of a deal but I don't really want to get into international shipping if I don't have to. I'm really leaning towards the 3v, I'm really just wondering if it's worth paying a premium for, or if the Vg-1 version will be almost as good.

Edit: Thanks for the input

I have all steel options offered in the SRK over the years and I do love the 3V model. Much more so then the VG1 model. I think it's worth the extra expense over VG1.

How does the DLC coating hold up? It looks much nicer than the "Tuff-Ex" coating, which seems to wear off pretty easily. Another factor that has me leaning towards the 3v.

Thanks for the reply.

LOVE the DLC coating. It holds up amazingly. Much better than any other finish I've had.
