SRK vs. Bush Ranger

The bushranger has a thinner edge and cuts better than the srk but is larger and not quite as agile. The srk is better if you do any prying however. Personally I prefer to take the bushranger when tripping since I use my knife to cut rather than to pry up stuff.

Thanks, but I wondered how they would work to defend myself aswell as do camp work. I think the SRK will work better.

Even though the Bush Ranger is a bigger knife, I believe it is lighter than the SRK. The SRK is designed to be heavy duty all purpose survival knife. When companies make knives like this, and advertise them as such, they tend to make them out of thicker stock and put heavier edges on them, just in case some moron goes out and starts prying with the knife. Knives are meant for cutting, not prying. Go with the Bush Ranger, its a better all around knife. Much better for self defense anyway. Definitely a sharper knife, due to the blade being flat ground thinner.

The Bush Ranger cuts better due to edge geometry, has a better handle (IMO), and is faster in the hand than the SRK. For defense use, the only advantage the SRK has is that it has a smaller footprint, and thus is easier to carry. Beyond that, Bush Ranger wins for defense.
