I was reading on the Busse site and on another forum when someone asked what the warranty was fo BC. I remember seeing that Busse Combat has an amazing warranty. Then it made me think, does SRKW have the same lifetime warantee on their products as well? The warranty on the BC stuff makes it so much easier to just not worry about hurting the knife and using it. Im pretty sure that SRKW has a similar if not the same warranty but I cant remember and didnt wanna post the wrong information. Can anyone comment on SRKW's warranty? Eric?

I don't want to speak for the company itself, but from reading stories and such online, it seems that SRKW has the same warranty as Busse, and Scrapyard:

Basically, if something happens to the knife through legitimate use of the knife as a tool (i.e. running it over with a tank would not count -- although it probably wouldn't even break :D), the company will make it right - I guess either repair or replace it, depending on what happened.

I, too, am curious to see what Eric has to say.

Listen to Yoda. Wise is he.

The original Swamp Rat guarantee stated that the cost of a warranty was not built in to the knives, so they couldn't offer us one. Therefore, they would have to rely on the purchaser to decide whether or not their knife was covered by warranty. It's our decision, and they will honor any warranty we give our Rats against major damage.

"Translation: Lifetime Warranty...No Questions Asked!"

I can't imagine it getting any better than that.

Hi Reconseed. The statement that yoda gave is exactly what Swamp Rat promoted it. In fact, there was an early promotional "Warranty Claims Specialist Communicator" that was given out. It was a mirror. :D

I've seen the warranty used a few times, everything from a broken Rat Trap that was used for prying sheet ice to a Battle Rat that was shot with a rifle (I'm sure there was some logical reason for that one ). Truth be told, I have never seen Swamp Rat shy away from any warranty claim. Eric and the crew give outstanding customer service.

Outstanding Customer Service is dead on... I had an M6 that I bought that had been customized by a reputable knife make for the previous owner. I damaged it... Eric and Co. reached out to me and repaired it at NO COST TO ME!! Blade is better than it was before!

Hands down awesome!!

Awesome, I was pretty sure that the warranty was the same as Busse but I couldnt remember seeing it in stone anywhere so i wanted to ask.

Yoda, my bad - i thought you were being a smart ass. lol. :)

Would RUST fall under ths type of warranty?

Generally speaking no, because that is the users responsibility to keep the knife in good working order. Just as the coating is not covered because this is considered more of a cosmetic issue. However, this is not set in stone, it really depends on what the issue is.

We try to be fair with all of our customers and all we ask is that they are fair with us. For example, if your knife rusted because you were in a downed plane in the jungle for a month with nothing but your knife to live we'd definitely take care of the rust issue ;)

If the rust occured because you were too lazy to clean your knife and you left it in your tackle box for a month without any care, that is not covered.....generally ;)

In addition, just because something may not be covered under the warranty(rust or coating) that doesn't mean we don't care. We will be happy to work with you and try and remedy the situation, there may be a small cost involved at this point though. We won't leave you to fend for yourselves.

Generally speaking though, we cover all unintentional damage, no questions asked (although if there is a good story involved I love to hear it ;) )

We really just hope that you are fair with us, and we'll be fair with you.

I hope that helps

Eric

Eric - quick question for you... What about if I wanted to have my blade or pick re-coated? Can I send it back and pay to have it recoated? I think Busse does this if Im not mistaken... Will you guys do this as well? What would the charge be and would it be dependent on the size?

Generally yes, we can do this, although this is strictly dependent on the amount of other work we have on our schedule. For example if you sent in a knife now to be recoated it would take us more than 6-8 weeks before we got to it, because of the Blade show coming up etc. Also it can only be done on certain knives, for example we no longer have the tan we used on the InfiCoots, nor do we have those handles anymore so we couldn't do that knife. (same goes for the Tan Battle Rat, Tan Camp Tramp etc)

Cost is dependent on the knife being done. Resiprene C models are more expensive because we have to cut the hold handles off and they are costly. Some we can't do, some we can.

Drop me a note or we can discuss it more at Blade.

I hope that helps
