Hey everyone first off have a good turkey day

SAR Rescue Tool

Met with some members and the Captain of the local fire department and the FD on FT Polk, the meetings and initial testing went well

Main cutter about 1/2" will handle up to 1/2 and 5/8" sisal rope, the webbing I cut was kevlar reinforced. Anything under tension cuts extremely easy

Oxygen bottle wrench cutout slightly oversized

Small pry/flathead screw driver

Hole in the back can be used to strip small gage wire
3/16 CPM 154 ht by me HRc 60 future models may be done in 1/8" and a 440 to get the cost down
Black texture powder coat

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

Interesting tool ,but lets see you carve a turkey with it ! Have a happy !

Is there a cover for the cutter when it's not in use? Use of the driver looks like it places the cutter where the fingers would be.

I have not built the sheath yet will be doing so today in kydex

Not sure I understand your question, all the features function and the driver/prytool is in a place that does not hinder or hurt your palm.

I have tighten/loosen screws, opened paint can's cleaned my fingernails etc, I will be testing it on levi style jeans today cutting up the pant leg. I also went by the local junk yard and got a bunch of old seat belts to test.

Hope i covered your question if not let me know?

My question was in reference to the exposed cutter blade. Benchmade sells a rescue tool that has a seat belt cutter on one end, and on the other side had a combo bottle cap lifter.

Some folks who used the end to open bottles sometimes found that they had accidentally cut their fingers or hand on the seat belt cutter.

I'm not saying that will happen with the design presented here, but it might be a concern.

Accidents do happen, but in all the testing thus far it has not been a problem, thats not to say that it cant happen. I have seen and held the bench made model 7 it has no bottle opener and I would have to say that the person who cut them self must have tried really hard to achieve that result?

In fact i opened up the cutter more to better enable what the cutter can handle up to 5/8" sisal rope, its worth the risk in my opinion. Not sure why you would need a bottle opener, it seems to be pure gimmick I think beer and a few other root beer drinks are the only things that need a bottle opener these days. So rescue tool or bottle opener whats more important to the user

Thanks

Whoever designed this is pretty bright or otherwise someone who knows what 1st responders need. Cannot tell you how many times I have been 'On Scene' and got blank stares when asked if anyone has an O2 wrench. Many departments now use fishing line to the regulator to keep it there. Good job. I want one. Smart tool.

Thank you its been done before, its a common inovation. Prior to entering the Army I had a level one Fire fighter cert, resident sleeper for Bear Valley Fire Depatment, EMT, Bear valley Search and rescue, professional ski patroler , high angle/low angle rope rescue, above ground blaster ( Avalanche Controll), climbing instructor. Over sixteen years served as a Airborne/Ranger qualified NCO in the infantry, just a little insight into my back ground.

Part of the motivation comes from my involvement in rescuing a young girl who was a trapped victim vehicle rollover in a water filled ditch, had to kick in driver side window and cut her free with a conventional knife, could have caused her more damage thank goodness I did not. But she was in immeditae danger so it was a sound decision.

Thanks
Spencer

I will get you the info in obtaining one and thanks again
