SS Endura with VG-10 blade?

How many of you guys (/ girls?) would buy a stainless steel handled Endura if it became available in a VG-10 blade? I would really like to see this variant made. I wonder how much more it would cost to change the blade steel to that type? If the price would have a substantial difference it seems Spyderco could still manufacture the one with AUS-6 to still attract those customers who don't want to spend that much money and have a separate line made in VG-10 for those of us willing to spend a little extra money to have better edge retention. If the price gap wouldn't have that much difference like 10 to 15 dollars why not just make the switch to VG-10? To me that would seem like a good idea but then again I'm not a businessman so this could be a horrible idea. Any thoughts / comments on this would be appreciated.

i know it's been officially spoken that the Delica will be released in VG10, but when i asked Sal & the other BFC'ers about the Endura, i never got an answer. logic would dictate that both of these models would move into VG10, but until someone from Spyderco says something definitive, it's just a guess on my part.

Hello,

i also heard that it is planned, dont know when.. I would probably buy, have the nowadays aus6 model and would W E L C O M E to have the same in VG10.

i would be more interested than i am now, sure. but i wouldn't buy it, because there's also the police, which i like better.

Sal has said that the introduction of the Byrd line has removed the need to keep the price points of some models down by using steel other than VG10, so I'd bet that the stainless Endura will be upgraded, just a question of when, and what other changes, if any will accompany that. Figuring the 50/50 choils on the Meadowlark and Cara Cara may be a way of gauging the reaction of the average user to this feature. We might also see traction grooves added to the ramp. For me, without those two features an all stainless Endura would hold no appeal, regardless of steel. With them, then it becomes a bit more interesting, but not much, since it would still be a bit of a boat anchor compared to a Stretch.

& as for cost, i imagine the delica will close the harpy as it is now (assuming by the similar size of the two, SS handles & VG10...) endura a little more..

I hope if they do upgrade the SS Endura that they will only change the blade steel. I don't really think I would like traction groves on the ramp or anything else. I really like the Endura the way it is minus the blade steel and boye dent. Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is 50/50 choils on a knife? I looked at the two knives mentioned but I couldn't figure out what is was.

when the delica comes out with vg-10 I'll grab a couple... waiting for the 'fly to upgrade to vg-10 though.

if you want 4" of vg-10, look at the police.

Waiting for SS fly VG10. I think guys are stopping their use of AUS6 because it's getting hard to get?

If the stainless Endura (and Delica) ever end-up with a clip that can be moved to the other scale for us "lefties", I'll be interested...'Till then, no sale.

Perhaps this will clarify it...

Blade tang and handle are designed to work together to form a safe location to choke up on the knife. There probably is merit in having some models which include this feature and others which do not in the lineup. I happen to find them useful enough that l strongly prefer my "users" to have them, but am sure others don't feel the same way.

An SS Endura with VG-10. Great! :) Could use it in the kitchen and toss it in the dishwasher too. Good steel to use on unruly tomatoes especially the thick skinned ones. ;)

VG10 is a big plus in my book, I'd be more than happy to see the Endura Stainless with it.

I'm a southpaw, but I carry and use my knives and guns with my right hand anyway, so tapped and threaded on left side would be ok, but I'd still buy and use it right handed regardless.

I actually have the Police but I hate the blade shape of it. Its just to long and thin looking with no belly on it.

Yes, that is very helpful especially the picture. You know I think I might actually like to see something like that on the Endura since I can already think of something it would have came in handy for. Back in Jan. I was converting a Sprint Treo 650 to work on Verizon Wireless and I needed to splice two data cables together in order to run some software to get it to work and I needed to strip some wires (they were extremely small to). The Endura was the only thing I had on me and I think it would have made it alot easier to do if I could have choked up on the blade to give me a little more control.

This is what I was looking for VG10 steel and the Emerson Wave, Boye dent on an Endura. Would have liked the clip & stud black but hey thats an easy fix latter. They only made 500 and there are a few left so get em now or cry latter  I love mine. Big thanks to those that made it happen..

The '06 Endura and Delicas in SS will be going to VG-10 and 4 way clips.

Thanks Sal for the great news! I finally forsee a pair of SS Delica/Endura in my future.

The SS Delica (SE) was my first love ;) Later on I discovered the advantages of FRN, which I preffer now anytime. However, I wouldn't hesitate to get the VG-10 version of the SS Delica. I hope the clip for tip down carry will be positioned in the same place (low rider).
