  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

SS Randall w/Johnson rough back sheath.

Mitch
I can not see your picture. If the blade is marked "SS", and it is authentic, the knife was made in 1963-64. It would have been forged.

Same here. Mitch, your photo is a no-show. The link directs to a Google log-in page...

I was told some time ago, that these (early?) acid etched "SS" knives are quite valuable... although they didn't say at the time what valuable is! ;). I bought this at a yard sale about 15 years ago.

edit: any idea "what" stainless they used to forge this?

Yep, that's the earliest Stainless Steel indication, circa 1963; forged, likely some variation of 440 stainless. Randall has used 440 steel on their Orlando made forged stainless steel knives since 1938, and still does; I can't see why that would've changed.

Nice knife, btw. I'd like to own it once you're done fondling it. ;)

Nice knife. I love how clear and crisp the Randall stamp is.

I see Verdigris from the sheath.... 63 is on the cusp,,,,, BB Heiser, Johnson, Stockman, Moore???? What came with the knife?
