SS Spydie obsession....

Last week or so, I received my first SS Police PE. Now, although it is an older model(GIN-1), I fell in absolute love with it. This week, I received a SS Cricket PE which is my new home EDC....I don't think that I have to go into details about this amazing little Spydie with a SS handle and VG-10 steel.

Before these two SS models, I also have a Glasshartt, web engraved, SS Endura PE in my collection that only comes out for very special occasions.

It seems that I've come to a point where I'm becoming addicted with the heft and solidity of SS handles. I emailed our Fair Lady Glasshartt to ask if she had any web engraved Dragonflies left and to my amazement, she has three....with one that still has my name on it!! So I'll be gettin' that one pretty soon too.

Has anyone else out there ever become obsessed with these awesome SS Spydies? It seems that my Spydie collection is starting to grow again after a short lull.....;) :D

I share a similar affliction, only mine is with G10 Spydies:)

SS is nice and the heft makes it feel so much sturdier than the FRN and G10 offerings but I have to admit those scratches start getting to me after a while.

The Ti slabs on a Sebenza are even worse, especially at their price point!

Glad to hear of your good fortune though!:)

I have the same problem with my ss police. I scratch the hell out of it when I forget to take my keys out of my pocket or when I have change jingling in my pocket.
After awhile though, it becomes less noticeable when a new scratch appears. The one that still bugs the hell out of me is dropping my ss police onto concrete. For some reason, all my metal handled knives get dropped onto the pavement while my zytel and g-10 knives escape such indignation.

I used to dislike SS handles because they were too slippery. Now that I finally learned to put some decent scales on them I am really beginning to love them. Sure it loses some of its slimness, but it's also much more comfy and less slippery.
:D

Yup...My 2 favorite folders (and my EDC's) are my stainless fully-serrated Police model, and my stainless plain-edge Delica. These are both excellent knives!

I have put "Agrip" on the non-clip scale, and that solved the "slipperiness" problem quite well.

Don't get me wrong, guys, I'm crazy about G10 as well. But, lately, I've been getting into SS handles. I also forgot to mention that I had a web engraved SS Native PE, but traded it off awhile back....still seriously kicking myself for that loss. :(

Hey KBR I have a engraved PE SS Native that I will trade for a lnib PE Military.

Thanks BOK, Yes it sure is nice. It was apparently done by a Spyderco employee awhile back, as an experiment.

Jeff.

Jeff, think of how that web engraving would look on a SS Cricket. :D

I'm thinking of contacting Spyderco to see if it's possible, how much it would run, and how long it would take, to get done. ;)

Sure, I like the Stainless Steel Spydies too. :D My favorite is the Stainless Steel Jess Horn from A.G. Russell. And the steel handled Endura is a work tool with heft. :D

I've been enjoying the SS Dragonfly that I bought earlier this year. Solid as heck for such a small knife.
